A Film of the Courtyard Residence

The easiest way to understand the Courtyard Residence is to watch a family spend time in it. This short film follows a family of four, two parents and their two teenage children, from arrival to sunset at Wakatobi in Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia: the flight in, a walk through the Residence, a day on their own boat, and an evening back at the table.

A Day at the Residence

Your stay begins the way the film does, from the air, with the island below and the plane coming in to Wakatobi’s airstrip. From there, the Residence: the courtyard and pool at its center, the living and dining areas around them. Then out on your own boat, with lunch on board and time on the reef. Back at the Residence, meals at the table, time by the pool, a game of cards. The day ends at sunset, first from the boat, then from the deck.

The Residence is built for families, friends and small groups of up to eight guests who want their own space without giving up each other’s company. It has two master suites and two additional bedrooms, which can also serve as an office, spa, gym or yoga room, so the bedrooms adjust to however your group is traveling. The courtyard pool sits at the center of the 8,000-square-foot Residence, and the open-air patio looks out over the water.

The boat is where the Residence differs most from a typical villa stay. It is yours every day, with its own crew and your Private Dive Experience Managers, so the day isn’t built around anyone else’s schedule. If the light is good at eight in the morning, you go at eight. If lunch runs long, nothing is missed. Diving, snorkeling, a run out to a quiet stretch of reef: the film shows a family doing all of it on their own schedule.
